Christina Martini receives ADL Women of Achievement Award
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Christina Martini, a partner in the firm's Chicago office, is one of four recipients of the 2017 Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Women of Achievement Award.
Presented each year by the Greater Chicago/Upper Midwest Regional Chapter of the ADL, the award recognizes women who are outstanding in their respective fields and embody the spirit and philosophy of ADL through efforts to improve communication and understanding among Chicago's diverse racial, religious and ethnic communities. Martini, who chairs DLA Piper's Chicago Intellectual Property practice, serves as the firm's National Hiring Partner – Associate Recruiting and sits on the firm's Executive and Policy Committees and its Diversity and Inclusion National Steering Committee, was specifically recognized for her strong leadership exhibited through these positions. She was honored at the 24th annual Women of Achievement awards dinner on April 26, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Past recipients include Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to former President Barack Obama; Lynn Martin, former US Secretary of Labor; Andrea Zopp, former CEO and president of the Chicago Urban League; and many other general counsel and executives of Fortune 100 companies and leading professional service firms.
"This award is so meaningful, especially given the incredibly important work that the Anti-Defamation League does here in Chicago," Martini said. "My mother was a Mexican immigrant who came to America hoping for better opportunities for herself and our family. As her only daughter, I have always felt compelled to achieve what she could not during her 50 short years of life – and making a difference in the community has always been incredibly important to me."
Martini focuses her practice on domestic and international trademark, copyright, domain name, Internet, social media, advertising and unfair competition law and has extensive experience in brand development and management, counseling, prosecution, enforcement, due diligence and licensing matters, and in protecting clients' intellectual property rights through litigation and other means.
